Elegant and timeless fine jewellery for all.
Jewellery in all its endless variety of materials, styles and applications can be considered one of the highest forms of adornment, it transcends time and culture. It acts as a direct reflection of the contextual world in which it was created, producing a sort of time capsule or physical memory. From elegant and timeless fine jewellery that can be passed on and loved as heirlooms, to fun, playful and loud costume jewellery. We hope to explore the full scope of this craft moving forwards.
Operating on the doorstep of London for many years we are incredibly fortunate to have a longstanding and rich jewellery production district to learn from, Hatton garden. This maze-like area of the city of London is home to an endless array of production studios, casting shops, gem setters, engravers and the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, headquartered at the Goldsmiths hall, the location of the renowned London assay office. For our first endeavour into the world of jewellery design we have embraced this opportunity and looked to implement decades old craftsmanship in combination with advanced technological production techniques. This blend of old and new, classical and modern reflects our approach to much of our work.
The game of chess and its unique and varied pieces stood out to us as being the perfect starting point, it's universally recognisable, timeless, and can be a profoundly personal element in someone's life. The original form for the pawn pendant was developed many years ago by Ryan before joining the company, using a hand operated metal lathe in a workshop after school the simple shape came together but without a use at the time ended up tucked away in a box as a keepsake.
In order to reproduce and fine tune this form for our first pendant we needed someone with great skill and attention to detail within 3D software. Vincent who studied alongside Alex during his architectural degree, and had on multiple occasions showcased incredible talent within the the use of 3D software alongside an interest in exploring jewellery design was our first choice and was able to take the rough preliminary form and transform it into an elegant digital model, from there the advancements in 3D printing allowed us to produce a wax master and have the first samples cast in sterling silver. Before we knew it we were looking at a fully hallmarked and hand finished piece. This marked the beginning of a much larger and ongoing project aiming to produce a full and matching set of board pieces.
We look forward to making this set available to you for years to come, starting with silver, yellow gold and rose gold options and with the opportunity for further exploration into exotic alloys and limited edition pieces.
